Hi

@Autodesk - Instead of creating new problematic nonesesicle tools that we dont really need, why dont you focus on the existing tools that dont quite work right?? what are you doing over there in autodesk world? pulling daft ideas out of a magic hat i suspect lol.

Take this for example. A simple function to get the name of the current design view from a selected drawingview.

Dim oVarViews As DrawingView
Set oVarViews = oSheet.DrawingViews(1)

Dim sViewRep As String
sViewRep = oVarViews.ActiveDesignViewRepresentation

MsgBox sViewRep

I found threads dating back to 2008 (7 years ago) saying that the return result is empty and guess what, its still empty..

Lets pick another one that i have experienced recently, finding an assembly occurrence in the assembly based on the row of a BOM

The BOM is linked to an assembly

the BOM lists out what is in the assembly

the BOM obviously knows how many occurrences there are because it provides a quantity

Why then is there NOT a method of looping through the BOM and finding the occurrence in the assembly? we should be able to get data from the occurrence without the tedious days of searching, find what seems like 1000's of similar people needing to do the same thing only to find, its impossible. You do realise they are sending men to Mars dont you? more chance of that than you guys fixing what already is frustrating us all

listen to your people, take note of what we actually want instead of 'cool tools' that serve no real purpose.

im so ready to switch to solidworks. i hear that works just fine 🙂

frustrated Nigel
