topic Edit View File in Inventor Forum

I have several parts that are similar. I want to copy the ipt and dwg files and then edit the ipt files to create new parts. The trouble is that in the base view of the dwg, I can't change the ipt file that the view points to. It's greyed out. Is there a way to change it so I don't loose all my annotation because I have to start with a new view?

I think you have a part A and drawing.

You want to edit A to be B, but still use the same drawing (with a new name)

Have you tried:

Edit part A and save as B.

Save drawing as B.

Click 'replace model reference' on the ribbon bar.

Switch A for B.
