Pattern in 3D Sktch

Hi,

I created a 3D sketch, I am in the need to apply pattern to apply more lines to both side of the center line. But I couldn't see pattern feature in the 3D Sketch. Is there any other option ?

Hi Kiri,

Indeed, there isn't a workflow to pattern 3D Sketch directly like 2D Sketch. However, there is an implicit workflow to help. You can create a simple 2D line sketch and create a Sweep surface along the 3D sketch. Or, use Ruled Surface (3rd option) -> select the 3D Sketch. After that, pattern the surface. Lastly, include the edges from the patterned surfaces in 3D Sketch.

I have attached one image, that I want to draw.

And my initiative CAD sketch. My idea is to make lines and pattern it . After that apply those rafter sections ( rectangular shape ) as frame generator or any other ways.

Sometimes it might work best to return to old-school 2D techniques (see Sketch1).

But now changes in 2D should automatically update the 3D.

In this case, it seems to me that Frame Generator is more work than just modeling directly. The attached is a 2022 format multi-solid file. I cheated by making the jack rafters one solid body instead of individual bodies, but that wouldn't be necessary; just a bit more work to do them individually.

If you don’t need as individual components, you could use the Grill command.
