Batch Rename Files of an Assembly

Hi,

I recently imported a STEP file into Inventor. I named the STEP file using a specific naming convention (e.i. projectname_dwg#_revision_description). I would like the parts and subassemblies of the imported STEP file assembly to follow the same naming convention. When I imported the STEP file the parts and subassemblies are already named. Is there a way to batch rename the files in the model browser? Is there a way to batch rename the files using the design assistant? Please let me know what can be done. Thanks.

Hi Keith,

Design Assistant does not offer an automated workflow. If you use Vault, I think there are workflows facilitating name change. Here is a list of Inventor apps related to "rename."

Vault does it really easily, but if you don't have vault that's no use to you.

Try "Design Cloner" from Micro Graphics. This app is gold.

Load the Assembly

Use a search and replace string to batch rename all the files.
