How do they change?

Are you referring to the SHADEMODE visual style?

Can you zip and Attach the files here?

JD, bear with me i am new to inventor. i could "pack and go" and save it as a zip file, is that what you are referring to? I am concerned if i do the pack and go the zip will be larger than the 71mb allowed.

I attached the 2 pics to my post, it is not shademode. the issue is that steel has changed sizes and locations when I export to dwg.

thank you,

Bill Lane

What happens if you reduce the problem to say just 2 (or even just 1) component in a test assembly and export to dwg.

Does the problem go away with only one or two components, but persist with the large assembly?

How far from the Origin is the geometry?

What is the -dwgunits setting in AutoCAD?

I went down to 1 assembly and the same thing happened. i realized it doesn't change any ipt it just rearranges their placement.

I ended up importing the .iam into autocad and that worked well, so i need to move on.

thank you for all your suggestions and help.

Hi! Without seeing the actual Inventor files, I would speculate that there are files with duplicated names in different folders. Try locating the misbehaved component and search the same file name in the project folder. I guess you may see multiple entries.

The issue here is that when there are multiple files with the same name, Inventor can get confused on which on to use to export. The receiving CAD system may not support duplicate files.

Many thanks!
