It has been there for 10 years at least. It isn't well-known but our enterprise customers leverage it heavily. To be fair, we have fair share of issues in this particular workflow. Sometimes, the cell format has been changed or the template items are not honored properly. If you work with a R2020 then there is no option to use a template .
