Hi! The quickest way is to use Boundary Patch. But, I don't think it will generate the desirable surface you want. For your case, I suggest you want to use Guide Surface Sweep. You need to define the profile and the path. For Guide direction, select the ground plane.

If you cannot figure it out, please share the files here. Forum experts can help take a look.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I'm trying to model a balustrade wall with a scroll end and I'm wondering if its possible to convert a 3D sketch to a surface, my plan is to extrude the wall up and use the surface created from the 3D sketch to trim the solid. I've attached a screen shot which shows the lines I want to convert to a surface highlighted in green.

The second image shows what I'm trying to achieve (I've tried to edit this part without success - it was modelled in Solidworks and although its been converted to an .ipt file, its a dumb solid and I can't get commands like Direct Edit to work etc).

Mike

Feel free to post any model here so we may operate on it to demonstrate.

To create the surface on top, if your green line is a closed loop, use "Patch" (boundary patch), from 3D model > Surface > Patch.
Then simply thicken/offset it as needed, and use that surface as the stop for the extrudes coming from the bottom (extrude to Distance > To).

Hi Guys,

Apologies for the delay in replying, I've been working on other things for the last few days and have only just got back to this problem. The 'Patch' idea worked and I have now managed to model the walls.

Thank you also for the 'Guide Surface Sweep' suggestion, I will use that for the handrail.

Mike
