If by imported, as in created in an older version where LOD existed, no they are "virgin" 2022 assemblies. What I am trying to do is replicate the ability to get the different mass numbers from different representations. Or do I need to start using a "legacy template" for my assemblies that has the LOD ability in it?

A frequently used function I used to do when Inventor had "Levels of Detail" was to gather weights for different groups of components. Now since 2022 version, LOD is gone and now we use representations, I have not figured out how to create different grouping of components and get mass properties for the different groups. All representations show the same mass, the mass for the whole assembly. Anyone know of a way to achieve what I am getting at? thanks

Are your model states set from imported LODs created in previous versions of Inventor? You may have to re-create those groupings again in brand new model states:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/model-state-mass-on-idw/m-p/10356622#M829791

While it's true that you do need to recreate a migrated LOD as a model state in order to see difference in the BOM and mass, it's not quite as tedious as that sounds. Simply copy a migrated non-master LOD as a new Model State. The new model state is fully editable, has it's own BOM and mass etc. After verifying it's what you want, you can keep the new model state and delete the old migrated LOD/model state.

Hope that helps.

It is a tedious process if someone needs to migrate an entire library. I wish Autodesk could point these users to a detailed iLogic Rule or have Design Assistant (or other) with a process for this kind of conversion.
Changes are never individual, and as simple as a manual process looks, it is still manual and multiplied by how many files you got.

Quite the opposite, what we are discussing is how 2022 should have different mass for each Model State created in the new version.

I admit I am a bit confused by the conversation. That is exactly how Model States work - each model state can have a unique BOM, material, mass properties, etc. Not sure why it is not working for you. Attached is a screenshot from the guided tutorial Model States: Assembly Manufacturing Stages showing the mass props for Task 1 vs. Task 4 (machined). Perhaps you can attach an example that isn't working for you?

Thanks,

Ok model states does it... I was under the assumption that model states only allowed you to "simplify" or hide features. Thanks for helping me through this!

No problem! Glad to hear that nothing was broken!

You might want to try the part and assembly model state tutorials in the gallery to get familiar with the workflow.

Make sure you are connected to the internet, then click Get Started tab>Tutorial Gallery. Set the Place filter to All Available and the Type to All.

Cheers,

OK one more question to the gurus, why are there no model states for frames? I am unable to suppress pieces of the frame to create different model states.

It simply isn't supported yet:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2022/ENU/Inventor-Help/files/GUID-7A8F3827-4F52-4D1E-B730-730EEB739097-htm.html

Probably too complicated to work with frame suppression, which is different than regular component suppression. I am guessing that the frame skeleton is coded with its own system that does not jive with being controlled by the upper assembly indirectly:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2022/ENU/Inventor-Help/files/GUID-7A8F3827-4F52-4D1E-B730-730EEB739097-htm.html
