Does inventor have floating toolbars?
Or is this a feature they will be adding?
Would love to speed up my modelling/drawing with the use of floating toolbars and macros.

The Ribbon menu can be undocked from it's default location at the top and the redocked someplace else, or left floating on the screen. Once it is undocked it may even be dragged to a secondary monitor to free up more screen space. Simply right mouse click on an empty section of the ribbon and select Undock Ribbon.

yes that was obvious that it can be undocked.
that doesn't speed up anything though.
the point was that you don't have to keep clicking between tabs for frequently used stuff and custom macros.
over times all the extra clicking adds up.

Maybe its just the method in which you model things..

Which software are you coming from? Maybe we can suggest the best way to transition. Solidworks?

I rarely find myself needing to "click between tabs" as the software typically switches between sketch tab,etc... as needed.

I also make use of hotkeys and even programmed keys on my 3d controller for any frequently used commands (constraint/sketch/measure,etc...)

There is even the "marking menu" which can be customized to your liking too..

You can access macros on the marking menu. There's also a Ctrl+Right-click marking menu with another eight slots for shortcuts/macros if you run out of space on the standard marking menu:

Personally, I find keyboard shortcuts the "fastest" - but it all depends on the person swinging the mouse, and your background with other software. I know some users who customise every button on their big 3d Connexion Space Pilots and they fly through tasks that take me several meters of mouse travel - but my preference is still a mouse.

Hope you find what you're looking for.
