Is it possible to program sheet metal for a laser using Inventor Cam in each separate .ipt file. That file would have G-Code associated with it. Then pull that file into Nesting with associated G-Code already programmed. Hoping the lead-ins and part specific tabs would affect how the parts nest. Right now, all I'm seeing is the opposite. Pull the file into nesting, nest it, then create 3D model and apply the Cam to it. Doing it this way messes up my lead-ins and part separation. On most parts, I want the lead-in/tab in a specific spot every time. I can do this but as far as I know so far, I'll have to Nest, create 3D model as an Assembly, individually assign each part it's lead-in/tab and location, and move parts around so not to interfere with each other. Dr. Abe Blank software for Amada laser. You load individual parts, assign lead-ins, tabs etc, and save the part. This goes into a library. When ready to nest, load that part from the library and nest QTY required. It takes into account where the lead-in is and adjusts the nest. Does Inventor have this capability? Another option I guess could be to export the flats to .dxf and manually draw the lead-ins/tabs and reload. That is not ideal. Attached are screenshots from Dr. Abe Blank for reference.

Previous nesting software used, Dr. Abe Blank for Amada Laser. I believe Dr. Abe is far more advanced so far.

Inventor 2022

I think we're going to ditch the Inventor Nesting and go with ProNest or SigmaNest or AP100. Not sure yet, probably ProNest
