topic Assembly cannot be solved in Inventor Forum

Dear all,

currently I'm trying to join a pillow block to a frame selecting two surfaces (mate), but unfortunately I always get the message "assembly can't be solved" when I hit apply. I tried with "Joint" as well as "Constrain". You can find the project attached. Would somebody be so kind and give this a look?

My goal is to attach the bottom surface of the pillow block to the frame as shown in the screenshot. I have marked two points on the pillow block and two on the frame which I later want to use to bolt them together with the Bolted Connection feature.

Thanks so much,

Lalit

Remove the Flush:2 constraint on the pillow block. Then you should be able to constrain it to the frame.

Thank you very much, that did it of course! One more thing: I'm now at the point where I want to align the red edge in the screenshot to the 20mm construction line. The 20mm line is on Sketch 3. Do you know why I cannot select the construction line when trying to mate the two?

Thanks,

Lalit

Hi! I believe the sketch line you are picking is on assembly. Inventor assembly constraint does not allow assembly sketch to be selected.

Many thanks!

Oh that's a bit of a disappointment. I never know why you cannot sketch over thing in Inventor? Thought it would be simple if you had something to follow when roughing things out? Also the copy paste thing is annoying where you cannot pick a piont on an existing object or whatever and paste to a point where you want it just like AUTOCAD. makes sense to me>
