Inventor Not Properly Exporting Texture in .glb Files

Our company uses a workflow within inventor to create 3d models of our products (in the file form of .glb files) for viewing on our website.

Some of our products have striations that rotates along faces that interact with the Z axis. I have applied the striated textured appearance to the solid body and mapped this texture so that it applies applies to all the faces along the z axis in the same direction.

This is how I applied the the texture. Reference this forum post here:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/how-do-i-choose-the-feature-appearance-orientation/td-p/7026633?attachment-id=602558

Here is what the texture looks like in real life and how it looks when properly mapped in inventor

===================================================

Here is what the texture looks like once exported to a .glb file. As you can see it, is not accurate and not what the user interface within inventor is showing it should look like.

=========================================

1) I have tried "move body" and moving the part such that the part is aligned along a difference axis.
EX: I used the move body to make the center of the part the left side. That means in theory I turned the part so that the center goes from being parallel with the XY plane to being parallel with the YZ plane. This still resulted in an incorrect export

2) I also tried redefining the original work plane. I did this by opening the original .ipt file, selecting the original / 1st sketch used in the part. Then right clicking on it and selecting "redefine" and then choosing a different work plane. I then reapplied the texture so that it is correctly applied and the striations are running in the proper direction. This also resulted in an incorrect export
==============

Clearly this should not be happening. Inventor should be exporting the texture and material as it appears in the user interface and not the resulting texture in the .glb files. Please help - Thank you!

Hi! I could be wrong. This could be related to the lighting style. Go to View -> Lighting style -> select "Two Lights." Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

I just tried this. The the export is still different from the Inventor appearance shown in the user interface.

The problem is that the textures is applied in one direction on all faces along the Z axis within inventor. However when I export the model into a .glb file, the textures in the .glb file are not applied the same way as they were within inventor.

hi nick_caracappa, could you please share me a simple inventor file to reproduce this issue? I will try your sample file whether there is a possible fix for it or not.

Yes. Please see the attached part and the screenshots. As you will notice, the striation is applied on the solid within inventor using the planar mapping feature. The lines should be horizontal at all times. You can see the difference in the two screenshots as it is not properly applied to the .glb file that is being viewed in the viewer.

INVENTOR

 ===========
3D Viewer

Sure - I am assuming that you are looking for the image that I am using in the texture path?
If so please see the attached image.

I currently have it used in the Finished Bumps area as an image, Amount = 1.0 The other settings are, brightness 100,
Checked "Link texture transforms", position offset and rotation are both 0, Scale is .50 in for both height and width, Repeat Tile for both Horizontal and Vertical

If you need additional info please don't hesitate to ask. Solving this is a high priority for our company.
