How to tell Inventor to open last saved file in Explorer

Hello,

How do I point Inventor to open up and "save as" to a specific folder in Explorer? I see the setting "last active" in the Open Tab in Options but I am hoping for Inventor to remember my last folder because I have a ton of subfolders in Windows Explorer.

It continuously reverts to a completely different folder

I do get the message that the part, etc is not active and I have to say its active.

I had many problems trying to use a master project template file and unresolved links so this was my work around which I know is a poor practice.

Can you share some screen shots of what/where you are trying to open or save? Inventor will always try to open or save to your active project workspace, which is the preferred/best place to save your files and should eliminate most of the reference problems.

Hi @johnEE7T4

In the event you do save a file outside of your project path, the quickest way I have found to access that folder is via the Open or Save As dialogs and look at the File name pulldown. Its a list of all the recently accessed files and their locations. Its not perfect, but it does the job.

Say you have project c:\XYZ as your active project path
And you create a new file and save it to C:\MyDocuments
And you close the file
Do a File Open and look at the filename field in the Open File Dialog and drop down the list you will see your last saved file location.

I appreciate the detailed and informational response. You both confirmed and taught me a trick.

I have mentioned this so many times but this forum is one of the most helpful forums on the web when I need a way to describe something that Google doesn't get correctly. Saves me a lot of time.
