How can I change transparency of imported cad file (step)??

This model was imported as a step file. I'd like to make the outer shell transparent; how can I achieve this? I couldn't find a suitable solution on the internet. Could you please assist me?

Can you Attach the *.ipt file here?

Is it a surface body or is it a solid body?

Have you stripped Appearance overrides?

Hi Imtiaz, when you say outer shell are you trying to have part of it transparent and part opaque?

As you are using a part file, you can only make the entire thing transparent or opaque unless using multi-body. Assembly would also allow you to have part of it transparent and part of it opaque, if this is what you are trying to achieve.

Appearances are on the top bar to the right of the colour wheel. Pick a clear one or create a new one with a transparency setting switched on.

Hi! I suspect the imported body or the faces have been overridden. Please use Clear Appearance command (the color wheel with a red cross button at the top) to clear all existing appearance override. You may need to do so at the body level again. Go to Solid Bodies folder -> right-click on the solid -> Properties -> Clear overrides.

After that, apply a transparent appearance to the part.
