Hello everyone

I am looking for a way to export/save iLogic files which I have created in Inventor Professional 2024 along with STEP model created using iLogic.

Is this possible and if so what is the solution? I need exported iLogic files and steps for the integration on the another platform.

Thank you in advance for the help

Hi

It all depends on what you have in mind and what workflow you have chosen so far.

Step files do not carry iLogic rules information - only geometry, material, and in some cases GD&T information.

But there is such a concept as an iLogic component - it is a new component file inserted in the assembly file, which is a copy of the parent file based on the data defined in the iLogic form during insertion.

In this case, you have many options. You can create a rule in the assembly file or an external rule that corresponds to the export of components. You can also use external plugins and extensions.

This is a scenario suitable for assembly modeling and subsequent data processing.

Another workflow is the direct preparation of production of selected variants.

You can also create single components and simply export them to step format for machining.

In this case, you can create a file export rule to step format inside the part file and then add this rule to the iLogic form.

This way, you can change part parameters in one file using a form and immediately export individual versions to a universal format.

But maybe you have something else in mind. As Chris mentioned, it's worth providing more details, both about the models you have and your expectations.
