Sheet Metal refold - incorrect/different to before unfold

Morning All

Using IV2019, I have multi body sheet metal part that i am working on. I unfold a conical shape so i could add some holes, but when i refold it appears in a different position to before the unfold. I have tried using different stationary references for the unfold & refold but i can the same problem. I get the same problem on other conical shapes on the part.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Hi! This is likely due to a bug in Unfold/Refold and Cut Normal. The bug is about the unstable stationary reference on a cone. To avoid the behavior, you may add a linear extension (small flange on either side). If you cannot figure out, please share the file here. Forum experts can help take a further look.

It is a very well known deficiency in Inventor.
The way to combat it is (if your design allows it, of course) - to place a cone Split on an Origin Pane. And make a Split asymmetrical. That way one face of the split is associated with the Origin plane and doesn't move when Unfold/Refold is used.
If it is impossible to achieve in your current design - then what Johnson has suggested might work for you.

To expect the bug be fixed in a near future is pointless, BTW.
