Laser scanner .LGS files

Good Day ,

Anyone knows how to deal with .LGS files with inventor? You can only import cloud files with .RCP extension. Is there a way to convert it? Thank you

Have you tried Autodesk RECAP? I think you will still need to save to LAS, PRJ (Leica) or PTG (Leica) formats before saving in Recap as RCP. Then you can import that into Inventor.

Recap won't import LGS, they are a particular Leica viewing format. AutoCAD can import them as a XREF with the Cloudworx plugin but can't convert them to anything from there. The only thing I have used that can convert them is Leica 3DR, though it may also be possible with Cyclone...

Unless those are platforms you have available, I would ask whoever made it to export you an RCP (or a PTS/E57 which you can convert inside Recap).

Also I think it's only the most recent version of 3DR that allows you to import LGS!

Thank you Guys,

I have installed True View from Leica website, it is free. I wanted just have ability to measure distances within the scan and it does the job, so I am happy with that solution. Can not request other formats so need to live with it.
