Change Appearance Issue

Greetings

See attached. Why can't I change the appearance from the materials library? Some of my parts work OK and some do not. What am I doing wrong?

Are you selecting faces?

I don't see the issue here.

If you need to edit the appearances in the library, add any to your document (if it's not already included in your document/file), then right-click "Edit" it on the upper panel (Document Appearances), and modify it. Later you can save any changes to your Styles library by going to Manage (tab) > Save (you will need write-access to the material library and design data).

No, I am not selecting faces. I simply want to change wood type and maybe a gloss finish and I can't do this on the attached part in a previous post, but can do this on other parts.

1- select face(s)
2- click the Appearance pull-down menu
3- pick a new Appearance

Without any screenshot/video/proper description showing exactly how you cannot do this, I believe you already have all you need to troubleshoot this with the information above.

Hi! To add to what Gabriel already mentioned, this part has face color overrides on top of material appearance. Face color and feature color have higher priority than body color, whole part color, and material appearance.

You can use Clear Overrides command (the color wheel with a check mark at the top) to remove any preexisting overrides.
