To clarify: Your STEP file has a hole pattern already on it, you want to place this in an assembly, constrain it in place and have the hole pattern automatically transfer to the mated part? Is that the basic idea?

Our library consists of an incredible number of STEP files, which we would like to automate.

For now, our idea is to place this in the content center, so that it can be properly categorized. Only our question is this: is there a way to load your stepfile into your assembly, and have it immediately place the hole pattern of the file in question in your .ipt in the background?

Is this possible with punch tool or etc?

an example of how the .ipt should look like is shown below.

Hi! If I understood your request correctly, you would like to place a CC (STEP-based) part in an assembly and then populate the holes to another part in the assembly?

If yes, it could be automated to certain degree. Without automation (iLogic), the manual workflow is to use Copy Object command to link the geometry from the CC part to the edit target part. Then use Sculpt command -> select the linked geometry to cut the part. This process can be automated. But, it may not be trivial.

Many thanks!
