Mesh Not Generating

Inventor 2022 Build 554

Mesh will not generate on this PC. Same part meshes as expected on another PC so the problem IS NOT THE PART.

When I click [Mesh View] the green bar moves about 10% and then the popup turns off and no mesh is generated.

Help page stated to check registry for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion #\Assembly Stress Analysis, that folder does not exist.

Also said to check for a folder in the user/temp folders and that folder does not exist.

I can edit the registry as well as create files in the temp folders so it is not a permissions issue.

I ran Inventor as Admin and same problem.

What would stop Inventor from creating the files for the mesh.

Hi Tom,

Another possibility is that the solid body has bad geometry. Try checking the body sanity. Make sure "C:\Temp\" exists. Then go to Inventor and open the part/assembly -> press Ctrl+F7. Is there any bad body reported in the dialog? If yes, you will need to run Repair Bodies workflow or remove certain geometry to restore its health.

Hello,

As I stated "Same part meshes as expected on another PC so the problem IS NOT THE PART."

I tried running the stress analysis on as simple of a body as possible, an extruded rectangle, and same results.

C:\Temp does exists and I have full access to that folder.

Hi Tom,

This could be user profile related issue. Try this. Close Inventor. Go to Windows Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables -> create "DYNAMIC_LOAD_APPLETS" in either panel and set it to 0.

Right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> check "Run as Admin."

Restart Inventor. Does it work better now?

No change plus when run as admin it loses access to many linked folders in the project file. I also tried it with the [run as admin] unchecked.

Hi Tom,

Many thanks for reporting the findings! But I am confused. "Run as Admin" is supposed to allow Inventor to have access to more folders, not less folders. Something seems off to me. It is possible your Windows User profile is corrupted. Try a few things. If you can change UAC (User Access Control) on your machine, turn it off. Does it work better? Or create a new Admin account to your machine and retry.

Very frustrating. I have lost 2 days now. Another person here recommended Nastran. Downloaded, installed and Inventor does not recognize it is installed. The Autodesk help page on Nastran not working stated that after I tried everything the next is to uninstall everything and start over. Should not be having these issues considering the amount of $$$ we send to Autodesk.

I am sorry that the Stress Analysis is not working for you. I took a quick look the following support article.

For Inventor 2022, the registry path you need to look at is the following path.

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion26.0\"

Close Inventor and rename "RegistryVersion26.0" to "RegistryVersion26.0.old" and restart Inventor. Does it work better now?

The temp folderis usually at "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp". How far down the path can you get?

\AppData\ is a hidden folder by default - so it may appear to be missing if you are not showing hidden files/folders.

I have full permissions and can see all hidden and system folders and files. I can create and edit files in this area.

Clean reinstall of Inventor did not resolve the issue.

Rebuilding the registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion26.0\" RESOLVED THE ISSUE
