Hello, I have created the enclosure and the door but I need somebody who can check them out for feedback. Could you please help me in making sure that the design has no issues? I am attaching the inventor files (one for the box and one for the door) in the link below:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/r6lbjwfnu6wtaao/40x30x20.rar/file

It is a 40x30x20 cm electrical enclosure, carbon steel 37, the thickness of sheet of the enclosure is 1 mm, the relief shape is laser welding because this is the tool we have. The sheet of the door is 1.5 mm thickness.

I just wanna make sure that nothing is wrong.

Thank you!

Do you have any experience with assembly (*.iam) files in Inventor?

You can assemble the two components into an assembly file and do a visual inspection (I used Three Quarter Section View in image)

or Analyze Interference as suggested.

If the door will be hinged - you can Drive the constraint or use Dynamic Simulation.

Do you really want the last flange on the box to be at an angle rather than vertical?

Do you have an image of something similar from the real world that you are attempting to duplicate?

Hello sir, actually it ismy first time to check an example like this and I am just confused. I am not sure about where to put the door. The door will be hinged and the last flange is angled according to the prototype we have. Would you please do it for me and send me the assembly file with some useful illustration to learn how to do it myself for the next models? I need to learn how to test the assembly and run the dynamic simulation.

Thank you very much!

Thank you so much! One thing I do not know how you did do...The rotation of the door, how do I do it? I followed the constraints you have created but still cannot rotate the door..Would you tell me the procedure please?

Thank you! You have made my day!

Edit the constraint that I named Door Opening.

Uncheck the box Use Angle As Resting Position and click OK.

Now drag the lid with your mouse.

Yes, I got it! But how did you add that constraint? I do not see it in the constraints of the door itself! Also what is the function of the constant solver and what is the contact set?

Thank you!

You can turn off the Contact Solver - it doesn’t do anything now - I just used it when I was setting up the Hinge positions to make sure there wasn’t any interference. I then added an Angle constraint (with limits) that I renamed to Open Door. Once my constraints were added the Contact Set was no longer needed.

You should be able to rebuild the assembly from scratch and ask questions at any step where you get stuck.
