Just moved to Inventor 2022. Model States is a great feature.

In our company, We use a lot of sheet metal part, among those, a lot of mirror part (Derive function).

Let say we have a part with 3 model states. We would like to create a mirror part with the same 3 model state...

In the derive function, it is possible to choose witch Model state can be derived, but it's not possible to link the "Base Component" Model States with the newly created mirror part Model States.

For now, we have to redraw the mirror part from scratch to generate de desire model of states...

Any workaround for this problem ?

Sergio

Without seeing your parts, I would suggest creating the mirrored solids in the original models, perhaps just as three additional model states. When multi-body parts came along in Inventor 2010, I stopped using mirror-derive entirely. I do the mirroring in the master part, then it's very easy to add features to either or both bodies as needed. Now with model states, there is less need to use Derive at all.

Hi! Without seeing the actual files or the image, I suspect you are trying to drive Derive by Model State or use Derive to drive Model State. Neither is supported. However, you can derive a part or an assembly in a given Model State. Whatever change in that Model State in the source part/assembly will be propagated to the derived part.

Many thanks!

See attached picture,

The idea is to link the Part1 model states with the Derived Part model option.

Everything is there to work.... it would be an easy one to implement.

Creating the mirror part as multi body part is not an option since our Inventor files are link with our MRP software: a single file is needed for every part.

Hi! Aside from selecting a Model State in Derive feature, there isn't any other workflow for Model State to drive Derive or vice versa. Such relationship cannot be captured on the table yet.

Many thanks!

Hi! Instead of using Mirror Component (Derive), you could consider using Mirror Feature -> Mirror Body -> Remove Original in the part. Mirror feature can be suppressed and unsuppressed in a Model State. In this way, you can make it right-hand-side and left-hand-side easily.

Many thanks!

Hi! Unfortunately, no. Another way is to create the drawing view from the back side. But you need to watch out the bend angle, since the bend angles are defined from the front side, not the back side.

Many thanks!
