It's one of those cryptic acronyms which has never been enhanced to provide a more meaningful error message. It's really a coding error which microsoft detects at run-time but don't have enough information about the code to provide any meaningful feedback.

Inventor issues - Access Denied - No RTTI Data

Hey

Inventor was running like a steam train until last week! i started to get this error occasionally, now pretty much every time i try to make a feature alteration

And now on top of that, the quality of a drawing has dropped a lot. it even passes to the PDF which is a problem

This is the curve in the assembly

and in the pdf

to rule out graphics card issues (which inventor doesnt currently use prior to 2022), here is my rig spec

CPU i7 10400k 4.2Ghz

GPU RTX 2700 Super 8gb DDR5

RAM 64gb 3200Mhz Super ram

2 x 1tb Samsung SSD

thanks

If you search 'no RTTI data' in the search bar above it comes up with several similar posts in the Inv forum. Maybe one of those has the answer although it does not seem to be one answer.

Hi @NachoShaw

Unfortunately, RTTI errors are such a pain to track, debug and fix. Seldom does one RTTI error related to another unless the steps to reproduce are identical.

Would you mind providing some steps to reproduce and a dataset - we can take a look. Also, which version of Inventor are you using? You can also email your dataset and steps to reproduce at: sundarsATautodeskDOTcom.

BTW, RTTI stands for "Run time type identification". At a very high level, its just an incorrect identification of some object type at runtime. Say for example you have some curve geometry out there and it looks like a line but is actually a spline and you end up treating it like a line at runtime.

Thanks

-shiva

Hey

When i got the message i was doing the following;

I hade to make an adjustment on the curved end of a panel

i moved the EOP to that feature and made the update

i moved the EOP down through the features to check for errors

i hit an error on a DirectEdit so i tried to edit it but it wouldnt edit

i tried to delete it and thats where i got the error message

i did an undo and suppressed it instead then added a new directedit.

Im guessing the error came because there may have been a future feature dependent on the DirectEdit underlying solid.

Hi Nachito,

This error usually happens when memory is corrupted. It could be file specific or workflow specific. Please make sure all applicable Inventor updates are installed and clean up %temp%.

Are you able to reproduce it persistently? If yes, please share the files and the steps with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!
