How to Measure Taper/C-Sink Angle

Hello,

How do I measure the 22.5deg taper angle in the image below? I thought this used to work before the measure tool got revamped. The angle is not provided when I select the two faces using the measure tool.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! This is a bit tricky actually. There isn't a measure workflow to show the taper angle as is. You will need to create construction geometry (workpoints or workaxis). Or, use Split command to cut the hole in half.

Create a sketch on a plane bisecting the hole and project geometry. No need to save sketch if one-time measurement is all you need.

Or you can make a drawing and cut a section through it and then dimension it.

I've had to do that a few times over the years on tricky geometry.

LOL...yeah, like the guys who hold a tape measure next to the object, and then snap a cell pic, and then email it as though it's some kind of field measurement! But I have to admit, this one's not too bad...

Thank you for the reply. Sometimes I make a section drawing and add the dimension, or I will just look at the defining sketch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember getting this measurement using the Measure tool and choosing to measure angles. Probably INV2017 or 18.

I'm surprised everyone was actually having you create sketches or features or whatever as the workflow vs simply looking at the defining sketch or feature.. Surely much quicker that way.. Heck if you created that with the hole command you simply need to look in your model browser or select other on that hole and that data will be shown.

It is possible that it's an imported part. Clicking M and getting a quick measure of the angle is fast and you would expect it to work in this scenario.
