Hi,

I improted a AutoCAD mechanical 3d model follow this:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Importing-AutoCAD-Solids-to-Inventor.html#:~:text=Within%20Inventor%2C%20click%20on%20%22File,and%20click%20on%20%22Next.%22
Method 2

But the model is out of place. Have to assemble it again in Inventor. Both are 2022 version.

If there a way to keep the relations?

Regards,

Pete

Hi Pete,

The behavior sounds file specific. Please share the dwg file. As a test, try the following and see if it is placed properly.

1) Start a new part.

2) 3D Model -> Import -> select the dwg file -> pick an origin plane and the center point.

The dwg file will be placed as a transparency in the part. The 3D bodies are not selectable. They should be located in the same place as in the original dwg.

Another possibility is that the 3D solid bodies are non-uniform scaled blocks. Generally, such geometry isn't supported in DWG import workflow.

Many thanks!
