Garbage

I have been a mechanical engineer for 30 years and in those 30 years I have worked with every single CAD package you can think of. In fact, while at the University of New Hampshire, studying to be an engineer, we used AutoCAD. I just wanted to give my impression of Inventor.

It SUCKS! THIS SUCKS MORE THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. I THINK HAND DRAFTING IS FASTER THAN THIS GARBAGE. I CAN'T BELIEVE AUTODESK IS ACTUALLY CHARGING FOR THIS STUFF. THEY SHOULD BE GIVING IT AWAY WITH AN AGREEMENT FROM EACH FREE USER THAT THEY WILL TELL AUTODESK, HOW TO FIX THIS.

IF I WERE ABOUT TO INVEST MONEY INTO A CAD PACKAGE, INVENTOR WOULD NOT EVEN BE ON MY LIST OF SOFTWARE TO LOOK AT. IT SUCKS THAT BADLY.

@dmartinKWBLB - this post has been edited due to Community Rules & Etiquette violation

I have taught the most common Mechanical CAD software packages over a 30+ year career and have had multiple students successfully pass professional certifications in multiple CAD softwares.

Our experience has not matched your description.

Can you provide actionable examples (in my experience it is best to tackle one-at-a-time rather than a laundry list).

Yes, I am a CSWP since 2007. (The old 8-hr comprehensive exam.)

Have taught many others who have achieved CSWP and several CSWE.

Hi David,

I am sorry to hear that Inventor isn't working well with you. Inventor has been on the market for more than 25 years. Certainly, it isn't perfect and it has a lot of room for improvement. However, the growing user base is a testament to its usefulness.

Please share the specific area, workflow, or command that Inventor isn't working for you. I am more than happy to take a look and see how Inventor can improve further.

Many thanks!

I have been a registered architect for 45 years. My former company acquired Autocad very early on WHEN YOU COULD PURCHASE THE PROGRAM, not "subscribe" at a ridiculous cost. I am now, at 74 years old a sole practitioner and using the same crap program. It was bad enough with employees but tragic at present. Autocad sucks! I will quit when I find something better.

Maybe you can share some ideas on how to make it better? There's a forum section just for this.

I know It can be very frustrating sometimes, feels like almost everything you do needs to be a hack/workaround
