Hi @jgarciaT78T5

I could be totally off base here but from what I can understand it seems like you have several drawing files (.idw) of your various components. Then, to create one big consolidated drawing of all components, you are copying drawing data (views/dimensions etc) from the individual component drawings (idw) and pasting them into a new drawing (idw). Then, when you go back and change your individual component drawing data that data doesnt show up in your assembly drawing (idw).

To put that as an equation:

Assembly.idw = Part1.idw + Part2.idw + ......

But this is not supported. You cannot have associativity between drawing files. i.e. changing Part1.idw will not update Assembly.idw. We do support associativity between parts/assemblies/drawings. i.e. you build a part, you add it to an assembly or create a drawing view of that part. The next time you edit the part and change data (geometry etc.) those changes will automatically update in the assembly and drawing.

If you want to show all your components in a drawing file, the best is to create one single drawing file and document your components in there.

1. Create views of different components in the same sheet to show all components in one page

OR

2. Create views of different components in different sheets in the same drawing to have separate views

OR

3. Create drawing views of your top level assembly which shows all your parts

If you can add more context to what you are trying to do that would help.

Thanks

I work as die designer and my job is to create assembly drawings of our components.

The way i create the assembly files is by copying single components drawings and paste them into an assembly drawings where i can have all the components of the die. I don't know if this is the proper way to do it but, i have notice that when ever a make a change on a single component drawing the assembly drawing does not update. Most of our assemblies share the same components so that means the assembly drawings share the same file.

I would like to know if there's a way to create assembly drawings that can update automatically when ever i make a change to a single drawing.

Hi! If possible, please share a simple example that exhibits the requirement. I think it is doable but I want to make sure I understand it correctly.

Many thanks!
