Autodesk Inventor Professional 2023.1 Update : Available Today!

On behalf of the Inventor Product Team, I am pleased announce the availability of the Autodesk Inventor Professional 2023.1 Update. Please check your Autodesk Account or the Autodesk Desktop App to download and install your update.

Our point release updates include fixes for issues, however also include customer driven enhancements. Be sure to check out the What's New content and Release Notes for more details. We hope you benefit from the 40+ productivity improvements the 2023.1 update includes. We feel there is a little something for everyone.

Hi! Do you happen to have "Prehighlighting" off (Tools -> App Options -> Colors -> Prehighlighting)? If yes, this is indeed a regression in 2023.1. When Prehighlighting is turned off, selection in the graphics window is blocked. This was caused by "Fusion Interop Add-In." If you don't collaborate with Fusion, you may unload the Add-In. Or, simply enable "Prehighlighting."

What kind of difficulty? You'll have to provide more detail about what you're experiencing for me to verify or not that I'm seeing the same thing. So far nothing noticeable.

Hi Sam,

the difficulty is that the edit sketch option is not selectable, by double clicking, right clicking and selecting edit or any other method that I am aware of.

As Johnson says - just disable pre-highlighting to experience it 🙂

Yes, I see the same thing. I see, too, that unloading the Fusion 360 Interoperability add-in resolves the problem.

Why a empty pop-up screen every time (and disappears also after a a few seconds) when starting Inventor? It only shows a header about "Data Privacy"...

Working with a simple newly created sheetmetal part, I go to render in High quality and end up with my CPU pretty well maxed out,

I am running a relatively new box with

i9-10900X CPU 3.70GHz

64 GB ram

Nvidia RTX 4000 32 GB Card

All updates Microsoft and otherwise.

When rendering in 2021.4.2 I don't see this level of CPU load.

Thoughts?

We are testing 2023 to upgrade from 2021 but this may hold us up on it.

Here is the file I am using, just a simple part, not sure if this is across the board but an assembly with 2 of these acted the same way. Again, I am just doing testing with 2023, to see when we will pull the trigger to switch from 2021. The additional oddity I am seeing, is it doesn't seem to have a significant impact on running other programs, including 2021 at the same time as the rendering is working through.

The Ray-tracing in realistic mode is fully multi-threaded so Inventor will use as much CPU as the OS makes available, in order to render as quickly as possible.

Since you have a good graphics card you can try off-loading the processing to the GPU by going to Tools, Application Options, Hardware tab & then down toward the bottom there is an option to "Enable Viewport GPU Ray Tracing".

I haven't had a great experience with this update. After installing it soon after release I noticed excessive CPU usage and as a result annoying fan noise from the computer. I didn't attribute it to the update at the time. I later had an issue with content center causing inventor to hang and I reinstalled inventor without any updates. No more fan noise. Later Inventor crashed and recommended I install updates, so I did. Fan noise and high CPU usage was back, and I just uninstalled 2023.1 to fix it. Am I the only one seeing this behavior?

Hi Steve,

As I replied to you on the Feedback email, we are not aware of an issue like this. You mentioned that uninstalling 2023.1 helped resolve the fan noise issue. If possible, please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. Also, try installing 2023.1 again. Does the fan noise come back?

One more test to try. Go to Tools -> App Options -> General -> uncheck "Show Home on startup." Does it help 2023.1?

No @Splinter65, you're not alone. I get similar problems with excessive CPU usage.

I've noticed the "CefSharp.BrowserSubProcess" running (shows in task manager) - and on closing Inventor, this process appears to hang. This hung process keeps an instance of Inventor running (visible in Task Manager), but not visible on screen. Killing the Inventor instance in Task Manager fixes the problem.

However... Thanks for fixing the Home screen, it's so much better.
And cropping broken & cropped views 👍
And updated translators... All worth the update.

@johnsonshiue - Yes, all Windows updates are complete. I'll try turning off the Home screen - but you just got it working and I like it 😞

An update. There was a Windows update, a recent one I think and not critical. I did this and reinstalled the update. Still high usage after a short time editing. I then turned off the home screen on startup and so far so good. Thanks for the help.
