Hi! Does Windows Server 2016 support .Net Core? If no, this is not going to work. Inventor 2025 requires .Net Core. Also, I am not sure if Autodesk Inventor supports Windows Server 2016 since it isn't listed as a supported OS.

Many thanks!

I've just installed Inventor 2025 on a development station to prepare our migration from 2023 to 2025.

When I open a drawing (in this case the template, to migrate it) I get the error below.

'Cannot load library C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2025\Bin\DwgTrans.dll'

The file does exist on my drive.

When I try to save a drawing file, Inventor crashes and this happens everytime.

I can open and save parts and assemblies without issues.

The error below also popped up when I was updating styles via the Style Library Manager.

Since this .dll seems to be used by the .dwg and .dxf translator, I also tried loading it manually via the Add-Ins screen.

But that doesn't work either, but Inventor doesn't crash though.

I already re-installed Inventor 2025 and updated it to the latest update version.

I also tried using that file from Inventor 2023, but that also doesn't work.

There's still an Inventor 2023 version on this station as well, but that shouldn't matter in my opinion.

Before this, I had 2021 and 2023 installed together and that didn't give an issue.

Hi Johnson, thanks for your reply.

I've removed everything Autodesk related from the station, following the Autodesk guides.

I've installed Inventor 2025 only from a new download, and still get the same message.

I've also tried a different user which has never logged in to that station before, but still the same result.

The file isn't missing, so that means I've tried all options.

Only the antivirus/security setting I didn't try, but that's on the same line as try with a different user.

Any other advice?

Hi! Something seems seriously wrong on your machine. Maybe the .Net Core is corrupted. Try uninstalling .Net Core also. Then run Inventor install. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed the the graphics driver is updated.

Many thanks!

First off, all the best wishes for 2025!

I've started working today after the holidays and the first thing I did was remove the Autodesk software and then .NET core completely and then reinstalled everything.

Unfortunately this also didn't work.

I'm now in contact with our IT department to turn of antivirus to check if this works.

I've installed it on a 3rd non-development station with also the same results.

Disabling the antivirus before installing also didn't work.

I've tried installing Inventor 2025 on 3 machines, 2 development servers and 1 jobserver.

All these servers are running Windows Server 2016 and they all have the same issue.

Now I've just installed it on Windows 11 virtual machine and there are no issues on that machine.

Everything seems to work as it should.

@johnsonshiue , can you confirm that this has to do with the fact that it was being installed on a Windows Server 2016 machine?

We've always been running our jobservers (and development servers) on Windows Server from Inventor 2017 up to Inventor 2023 and never had any issues.

If this is the problem, is there anyway to make it work on Windows Server 2016 machines, for example by installing a separate package or something?

Yes Windows Server does support .NET Core.

I know it's not listed as a supported OS, but there were no issues in previous versions.

If we can conclude that the OS is indeed the problem, then we don't have look any further.

So it would be great if someone could confirm this.

Ok, too bad it can't be confirmed, but I understand, since it's not listed as supported OS.

Since it can be installed on our W11 machines, we can at least continue our migration.

Thanks for your advice.
