Distorted ViewCube

A couple of weeks ago a few of my co-workers and myself noticed that our Inventor ViewCube is distorted. It looks like hatching lines on it. If you click on the ViewCube it will clear up, but distorts as soon as you move the mouse. Others in the department are not experiencing the same issue. The one commonality is those of use who are seeing the distortion have Acer V246HQL monitors. The issue appeared at the same time for those of us that are affected.

I can only assume that it may be a device driver update that our IT department rolled out, but I am not certain.

Hoping that someone my have advice on this issue.

I think your guess might be right, but just to be sure:

play around with the viewcube transparency and check how it reacts.

The first 2 things I'd look into would be the graphics driver as you stated. You might need to roll it back if the latest is giving this type of result.

Next, how much memory do you have on the graphics card? I would assume at least 4 Gig at a minimum.

After that, how many monitors do you use and how many are connected to the graphics card?

Basically, let's say you have a 4Gig card and 2 monitors connected to it, the card, by default splits the memory evenly to each monitor. So even though you have 4 gig card, you've got 2 monitors plugged in thus only 2 Gigs of memory for the apps on each monitor.

Personally, I have the onboard graphics assigned to the monitor I have Windows apps on and an NVidia card dedicated to the monitor I use to CAD.

Based on other posts and successful workarounds:
1- try resetting Inventor and your graphic card settings at the NVidia panel.
2- Also try Hardware > Conservative? Under Tools > App. Options.
3- Or try right-clicking Inventor's shortcut > Properties > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings > override (box) > System Enhanced (pull-down).
4- You may also try to Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows under the same tab.
5- Add a system variable: Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment variables -> create "QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR” and set it to 0.

Hi! Another possibility is that either the geometry is very small (less than 0.001mm) or very large/far from the origin (more than 1km).

Do you have a dedicated GPU? the screenshot of your graphics driver shows it's an integrated GPU, ie part of your CPU.
In device manager, the dedicated GPU should be the one listed second. Check the drivers for that one.

Hi Brad,

Then try the following and see if it helps. Go to Tools -> App Options -> Hardware -> select "Conservative" mode. This is the least performant option in terms of graphics. But, without a dedicated graphics card, it does not really matter much.

I tried the conservative option (and restarted Inventor), but it had no effect. I have found that if I select the ‘Quality’ option (and restart Inventor) the view cube issue is corrected. However, it does not take long for my model to start bogging down the responsiveness.
Danged if I do and danged if I don’t 😊.
