I recreated the chamfered cube in 2023.1 and found the same issue. I discovered that trying to offset by the exact amount of the chamfer is the problem. If I reduce the cube to 80mm, no change. If I change the chamfer to 24.99, it works at 25.00, but not at 24.99. If I increase the chamfer to 30mm, then the offset fails at 30.

I think you've discovered a bug. Congratulations!

2022.3 here works correctly without those issues. What's your version? Try updating.

My guess is the offset you are trying to do will not work with the dimensions you are giving it. I.E. too big of an offset for a small part. I see you are working in mm, I was able to follow your workflow using mm and also couldn't offset it at that large of an offset, but could at a slightly smaller offset. I have included a video showing how a offset will work at 24mm but won't at 25mm.

I am running Inventor 2022.3.1

I could recreate it on 2022.3.1 using their dimensions. They are working in mm, had you recreated using inches? or use larger dimensions than what they did?

Using 2022.3, I could create an offset of 30 and edit it later to 25

Thank you all for the support and kind comments.
It's still curious, I think I just cracked the hidden code and now won a prize or something 🙂
The number 25 is of course also just magical.
All kidding aside, it can also be reproduced in a 'normal' sketch.
When you select the hypotenuse for the offset of 25, the side is not included, with the other sides it can be included.
It must be a sloping side of 25 by 25, 25 x 25.001 is no longer involved.
Tried on two PCs, IV2022.3 / IV2022.2.1
See video.

Hi Folks,

Indeed, I believe this is a bug in the Offset command. The repairing ability seems to kick in a bit earlier than necessary. I will work with the project team to understand it better.

Many thanks!
