Importing a .stp file, it previews fine during the LOAD step.

But once I hit apply, it imports as surface bodies and they are transpartent.

See screenshots

Hi!

After you import them to inventor, Now you can turn these surfaces into solids.

Use STITCH tool, select all the surfaces, and if they are all closed, it became a solid.

So whoever created the .stp file did not close all the suraces then?

ok I'll have to put some work into then.

Is there a way to make these surfaces not transparent? I have it shaded but it's still transparent.

Hi! If possible, please share the file here or with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I can take a look and see if there is a better workflow to create a solid body.

Many thanks!

That would be awesome. I will share to you directly as this is a vendor supplied part and is propriatary information. Don't think they would like putting it out on a forum. lol

Thank You sir

Hi! Anthony shared the file with me. Without disclosing the detail, here are some findings. It seems that either exporting CAD system had trouble exporting certain circular faces or the designer deliberately removed some circular faces. It was done in a way to avoid forming a watertight volume.

To make it watertight, it can be tedious. The missing faces need to be found first. And then, use Boundary Patch or Loft or other surface commands to fill in the gaps. There isn’t a shortcut to do that unfortunately.

Many thanks!
