topic Dimension Reference alternate units in part (not a drawing) in Inventor Forum

I am trying to figure out how to use alternate units in a part.
This is important to me because I often have to draw in imperial but most of the interfacing components are metric.

I often walk through the designs with clients and like to highlight critical dimensions/tolerances or recent changes.

There is an option for alternate units in the menu but no toggle switch. I've even tried opening a draw and modifying the style editor in hopes it would give me an option in the part view.

I feel like I'm just missing a button somewhere. I often use parameters to update my parts so I don't want to override the dims

Screen shot below of an example

Maybe there are text commands I can use in the text window?

Thank you All

Hi! Inventor sketch dimension does not support dual units. 2D Drawing and 3D Annotation do support dual units. I think you are talking about 3D Annotation in a part. Here is the process of changing the 3D Dimension style. It is a bit elaborated. Please bear with me.

Here is a video showing how to change a 3D Dimension Style. In the dialog, there is an "Alternative Unit" tab. All the settings are on that tab.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djGO6SWMpFw

Many thanks!

Thank you very much. I was not thinking of them as 3d annotations.

You missed one step in your video which was hitting the drop-down menu to change the display setting. (image below for others) It was very helpful.

Thank you for your time.
