Custom Content Center Part references original file

So I created a custom content center library in order to add our most commonly used parts. I published a part to this library and can see that it is saved on the drive that stores all the content center files, even the default ones. However, when I go to place this part, it still references the original file rather than the one saved in the content center library folder. This won't work for us since the original file was on my local drive and the content center files are on a shared drive, and I want these parts to be accessible to everyone.

Picture below shows that I get an error for the part not being on the project file path, but for normal content center parts, it just references the shared folder and it doesn't need to be on any project file path.

Please let me know if you have any solutions.

Can you describe the process used to author and publish this part to your CC Library? Any chance you can share the original here so we can do some testing?

Well it looks like the original file must have been referencing that assembly that it's looking to open. Did you have an adaptive sketch or shared parameters from the assembly being used in the original? If you can upload your template file that might help diagnose the problem specifically. Also what version of Inventor are you running?

First, I created a custom content center library and saved it on the shared drive. I can see on the shared drive where we store our libraries that this custom library is present.
Then, I used content center editor to create a category
Next, I created a part and saved it on my local drive.
Then, I published the part to the custom category and library that I created. I can see that this part now exists in "content center files" folder on our shared drive, where all the other content center parts are also stored.
However, when I switched projects and added the library to the project, went to place the part, it said this file is not in your active projects, and gave me the option to resolve the link by clicking on the part in my local drive.
This is fine for me but I need my coworkers to be able to use this too and they obviously won't be able to resolve the link if it's on my local drive.
So I'm wondering why it doesn't use the part saved in the "content center" folder and instead is linked to the original file I published.
Should I publish it from the shared drive instead?
What file could I upload that would help you understand the issue?
I am using Inventor 2021

Hi! I could be wrong but I think there are some issues with your project setting. When placing a part from the project CC folder, Inventor should not prompt saying the folder path is not a project folder.

Also, once you published the part, you may want to move the "seed" part to a different project (and folder). Otherwise, Inventor can find that "seed" part if the CC part happens to be in the same name.

I assume you made this assembly and then derived it to a single part to place into CC? If so, did you make sure to "break" the link to the assembly? If not, then it would be looking for the assy to check for any updates. Just a thought.

Yes, I thought about it some more and I think this was my problem. Thank you to all for the helpful suggestions. I could also use some guidance on how to go about "breaking" the connection. I thought about exporting it as a different CAD format and importing it back in but their must be a simpler way?

On your template part file, there should be an option in the browser on one item where you can right click and break the link. Then simply save your changes, and in the content center editor replace the existing family template with your updated version. You may need to delete the already generated content center file from the "...\Content Center Files\en-US\.." location, or turn on "Refresh out of date standard parts during placement" in your application options to properly see the update on your published part.
