So...when i create a model state and edit it with spreadsheet , the parameter just show as a column member if at some point i had changend it's value. There is a way of set a parameter as key to model state ? For example : If i created the first model with the Measures that i need, i can create others using excel after that one. But what happens is that i need to create a model, change the key parameters values to be able to see it in model state table.

Hi Rodrigo, I don't quite follow what you are trying to do.

There are many ways to set the parameters in model states.

You can do it through Excel and change the parameters.

You can go through each state and change it in the parameter window.

You can go through each state and change it in the graphics window.

You can add a parameter to an Excel column to change them, but you cannot create a new parameter from Excel and push it back to Inventor as you can with the name of a model state.

Have you experimented with the “Edit Scope” toggle? It is the pencil icon next to the Model States folder in the browser (also available in the ribbon under Manage > Author). There are two options:

Member Scope: a blue pencil will be displayed in the browser only for the active model state. Edits modify the active state only, so if you edit a parameter a column will be added to the spreadsheet.

Factory Scope: a blue pencil will be displayed in the browser for all model states. Edits get applied to all model states, so if you edit a parameter a column will NOT be added to the spreadsheet.

Hope that helps!

Thank you guys ! Im struggling to express myself in english. So...The fact is that when i create a part and after that i open the spreadsheet , it's empty. First > I didint know that it was possible to add parameters to the columns manualy and thats nice. But lets supose that i created a part and I want to add all the user parameters to the columns, i need to add them manually ?

You only need parameters in the spreadsheet if their values will not be the same for all model states. Here is a simple example. There are two model states to create different sizes of this plate. The Length and Width parameters are in the spreadsheet because they need different values for the model states. There are also parameters for the plate thickness and for the hole, but (in this example) I want those constant for all model states – so they are not in the Spreadsheet. (If I wanted to vary the thickness in some model states, I would need it in the spreadsheet as well.)

You can hand-edit the spreadsheet to get this data in it. Or you can use Member Edit Scope (single blue pencil in the browser) and edit the parameter values in the part with each model state active. Of course you can also combine those two methods.

Hope that is helpful!

Hi Tim,

I don't think such workflow exists in iPart or Model State. The table values should always be driving (except being an expression driven by other columns). Driven dimensions cannot be added to the table.

Many thanks!
