Part Edges are too Bold

On my work PC the edges of the part are thin and clean. But on my home pc the edges seem very bold in comparison. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the parts from my work pc. Is there a way to adjust edge boldness of parts in Inventor 2025?

Line width can be controlled in the drawing environment, but not in the part file.

I wonder if the difference might be due to monitor resolution.

I currently am at 4K resolution with 120 hz refresh rate, so I would hope that's not the issue. But even when I lowered the resolution, it didn't change the edge boldness. So I'm not sure

I noticed something similar in 2025. 4k monitor at work - not 4k at home - and I have a laptop - so I knew what I was seeing was monitor-related. The highlight edges are noticeably thicker when you select/highlight something on a non-4k monitor. But I don't think that's quite what you are asking.

On the Work computer, what is the setting Tools > Application Options > Display:

- Use Document Settings or

- Use Application Settings?

It might be that the two computers have different settings. At home, you may have "Application Settings" so you are seeing the models using the "Display Settings" specific to the installation of Inventor. At work you may have "Document Settings" so it uses whatever was last used there.

Things like "Contrast with Part" and "Contrast with Background" can make a huge difference.

But other than that, I can't think of any mechanism for making the lines bolder.

No, I only use Shaded with edges on high quality

Here's my work computer compared to home computer. Just got to work a little bit ago

The lines of the home computer are noticeably thicker

I also see 2 different lighting styles.

Did you try Peter's suggestion about setting the line color?

Currently on my work computer

I have contrast with part and they appear thin. When switching to "one color" they do seem to appear bolder

When I was home switching things around, I'm fairly certain I changed between all three, but it's possible I never "applied' the setting because I don't remember seeing a difference.

When I go home today I'll try it again and see if there's a difference

I also noticed that the when the Hardware Ribbon (application settings) is set to Quality mode, the edges appear bolder, as opposed to when it's in Performance mode. So maybe I have too may settings trying to be "Quality" at home

Just did, it helped, but won't 100% know i it worked at home until I go there. So we shall see if that solves my home pc issues. I hope

As Kacper says, you also had two different lighting styles (or rather - shadow settings).

It looks like ambient shadows at work, and no shadows at home.

It might be a combination of shadows and the Lighting Style, Visual Style, and Hardware setting in Application Options. So many choices!

So turns out it was the settings you guys suggested. Using the "Contrast with Background" and making sure it's in performance mode changes the edge boldness to what I wanted. But it also is from my Home Monitor having 1/2 the Resolution as my Work Monitor.

Work Monitor: 3840 x 2160

Home Monitor 1: 2560 x 1440

Home Monitor 2: 3840 x 2160

Turns out my main monitor had the worse resolution. When on Monitor 1 it looks perfect, just like at work.

Now I need a new monitor 😂

Great - glad it is solved. Don't forget to mark the solution so others can find it next time someone hits the same problem. For your new monitor... I can recommend NOT getting a curved screen - it has taken my brain months to learn that all the straight lines are actually straight - not curved due to the screen distortion.
