Hi! This means there are no bad bodies, which is a great news. Then I would need to see the files. If possible, please share the files on a cloud drive of your choice and grant me the access johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand why Simplify crashes on this particular assembly.

Many thanks!

I have an assembly and when I use Simplify, Inventor starts the process and crashes without warning. Can you help me?

Install latest updates first, then try again.
Reset Inventor settings (Start Menu > Autodesk Inventor > Inventor Reset Utility) and see if that helps.
Check the "Conservative" and "Software Graphics" boxes under Tools (tab) > Application Options > Hardware.
Maybe your assembly has any corrupted geometry in it, that would be hard to tell without a sample, but you can press CTRL+F7 to do a quick scan report of the whole assembly. Try to isolate if any imported geometry, for example, is the cause (remove any imported components and try the simplify again).

Hi Gust,

This could be a geometry specific issue. I suspect there might be bad bodies. Please try a quick test. Open the assembly and press Ctrl+F7 (if it does not work, you may need to add "C:\Temp" folder). Does the dialog report any bad body? If yes, you need to open the parts containing bad bodies and go through Repair Bodies workflow to fix them. Depending the badness, some may not be fixable.

Many thanks!

Hi

thanks for your response, I checked the boxes and pressed CTRL+F7 copied pasted the list into Excel more than 1000 lines, how do I recognize a corrupted geometry? I also removed some (new) imported parts but that doesn't solve anything.

thanks

Hi. We are on Inventor 2023.4.1 and are experiencing odd behavoir with the simplify command.

I thought I had narrowed the crash reason down to using the company's "Vault Project" file. Assemblies that crash (some quite complex) using a Vault Project file work abosolutely fine when using a "Single User Project".

Interestingly, it turns out that we can simplify models using a Vault Project File providing they are inserted into a brand new assembly and then perform the command at this new level.

Please install Inventor 2024.2 update and Vaule 2024.2 update. Send an email to me johnson.shiue@autodesk.com.
