Detailing a part created in a assembly

OK, so i create a part in an assembly. when i open the part, it is skewed all over the place. Now how do you guys get the part into orthographic projection following third angle projection per ANSI OR ISO so i can detail it. Any tips or suggestions?

Please bare with me I have been away for 3 years if its a stupid question.

Hello! There are no stupid questions here 😀

Place the view in your drawing, and right-click on the View Cube, select Custom View Orientation. That will open the Part, and from there you can use Look At to select the face you would like to set as Top, Front, etc. Return to the drawing by clicking Finish Custom View,... and there ya go. 🙂

To add to what @CGBenner has said, you can verify your drawing styles to make sure it is set to your standards and preferred angle projection. Manage (tab) > Styles Editor > select Active Standard (to see the current one) > View Preference.

Edit drawing view. Right click on the view cube, Custom View.

Pick the face you want in the view and Look At.

If you really plan it out, you can use Look At in the part and save that view in View Rep.

If the part don't have any face you can Look At, create plane to Look At.
