Chain Dynamic Simulation

Hi guys. I would like to create a Dynamic Simulation of Hydraulic piston lifting a shaft using a chain transmission similiar to system that is use on forklifts. I'm kinda new in the dynamic simulation area so would like to know some guidelines to create this kind of animation.

You can create the animation by using presentation mode. I've always found it to be rather intuitive. I'd maybe watch a quick video on YouTube to get started. Basically, you'll be "Tweaking" your components to simulate the movements. Each tweak allows you to tell the program how long it should take to move from point A to B (or C, or D...). Just tweak the whole assembly in series and then play the simulation to see if you like it. You can make any adjustments in the area below the workspace. Once you like the timing of everything, you can add in camera movements to highlight specific areas of interest during the video.

It's fun to play with and learn. Your best bet is to just give it a try.

Are you interested in an animation which just shows the motion of the components?

Or are you interested in a rigid body kinematic study that shows the forces acting on the components over time?

Hi msansom, I'm looking for tutorials of dynamic simulation. I need to do it with that kind of joint.

I would not use Presentation *.ipj for this.

I would use Inventor Studio

Dynamic Simulation > Pubish to Studio.

I suppose that depends on the software available to the user, and what is more familiar to them.

An assembly must include parts.

In Inventor parts are in the form of *.ipt files.

Dynamic Simulation is an advanced topic - the user should already be expertly familiar with assembly structure.
