Is there a way for me to terminate my CBORE depth to that plane (i.e. by picking the plane)? I know I can do it parametrically, but that would be a roundabout/cumbersome way to do it. (I just want to pick that plane to establish the bottom of the CBORE).

Pick the first option there in your right-arrow menu: "MEASURE", then measure the distance between your start plane and the work plane (select it too). It should give you the right amount.

It does give me the right amount (and I did it that way), but it doesn't update when you move the plane since that "MEASURE" funtion within the command only applies for that one instance (if you move the plane, you have to re-MEASURE it). They really need to add a terminate function to the bottom of the CBORE the same way they have one for the hole.

Then parametric is your answer, if you wish to update the distance automatically as it changes. You can avoid creating a new parameter if you generate that work plane by selecting your starting face for the hole and dragging the plane down the right distance (this generates a parameter with that same distance which you can consume).

Another way would be by feature dimension, but I imagine you do not want to create any other features.

A slightly cheating way would be to create the hole on a plane which is at the depth of your c/bore, give the c/bore a minimal depth (0.00001") then check the 'Extend Start' box. I think that would update if you moved the face that the c/bore exits from.

This is a cool trick. Updates correctly in my tests.

One disadvantage is that the hole note in the .idw is not fooled, and shows the c'bore depth as .00001".

A workaround to that is to edit that to "C'bore to depth shown". Then stick a dimension (in a side view) to the desired points so they follow any modifications.

I don't see what is all ado about? Offset work plane got a dimension. Find that dimension and put it in Distance field in the Hole DB. Now the work plane is controlling the depth of the Counterbore. How "Hard and Cumbersome" is that?
Cheers,

The plane is offset from the other end, so that dimension would not work. Also, if you fully read the original request, the point is to not have to do this parametrically.

Dear Mitchell,
If you fully read your own original post - you will see - there is no mentioning of how the work plane was created.

As for your request - the required hole geometry can be created the way you want it. But it will require two holes instead of one. In short - the solution you are looking for is falling into a Cat category. Which reads - "There are many ways to kill a cat, but f...g it to death is most fun."
Best Regards,
