VMware performance issues

I am running Inventor 2023.1 Build 208 in WMware workstation 16.2.4, and I seem to be having severe performance issues. Fusion360 is accessing my graphics card just fine and performing well, but Inventor is reverting to software graphics every time I restart it. I have the latest VMware tools installed, windows is fully updated, and autodesk desktop app is showing no updates for anything. DxDiag shows that acceleration is enabled, and I have acceleration enabled in VMware. "Failed to create a device from the adapter" is logged over and over again. I am guessing it's a directx issue, but I am not coming up with any solutions. I found a forum post here from a few years ago but it was never resolved. Any ideas?

<LI-CODE lang="general">This Direct3D graphics driver is Microsoft WHQL certified

Hi! Virtualization environment isn't considered officially supported by Inventor. I think you may want to make sure Inventor.exe runs on the physical graphics card. Another tip I notice some user suggest changing the Windows Cursor Style may help. You may want to google around to see how to do that.

Many thanks!

Hi! This could be related to the hardware resource allocated to a given virtual machine. The OP's virtual machine spec is fairly limited. 16GB system RAM (shared with graphics) and 4GB graphics RAM. Even as a physical machine, the performance will be poor.

Please allocate 8GB graphics RAM and at least 32GB system RAM.

Many thanks!
