.ipt part bug?

Noticed something strange while trying to assemble a part with some constraints. For some reason, only one face is active while trying to mate constrain it. The part is created with Create Component function within an assembly, and then saved as .ipt. However some strange things happens when i try to assemble it with constraints, or if i try to create a drawing, then i cant even dimension some of the lines..

So this face is the only one that allows me to set constrain..

Creating a drawing of the same part, Trying to dimension the line in blue, but no dimension is appearing.

Ill attach the .ipt file, its from Inventor 2023 Proffesional.

with measuring it says 84.921mmwith dimensioning it says over 6 million mm.

When opening the part I did some surface curvature analysis on the part. If you create a new flat part, then go to View Tab > Visibility Panel > Analysis. A default of zebra will appear. In the browser right click and choose New Curvature comb. This will not allow you to select any true flat faces, only faces with curvature.

Going back to your part, I can place this curvature on 5 out of 6 faces. The only one I cant is the one that is selectable for constraints and the only one I can pull a workplane off of. So in stating this, there is only 1 true flat face.

Hi! Boundary Patch creates planar surfaces only when the input wires are 2D (co-planar). When they are not coplanar like your case, the Boundary Patch surfaces will be spline.

Please edit the 3D Sketch and add the logical constraints to ensure the wires be coplanar.

Thanks for the information provided. However i cannot constrain the 3D sketch any more, because then it will over constrain the sketch, and the part wont fit any longer. Is there any way to go around this ?

The 3D Sketch is not constrained at all, nor does it have dimensions, it's floating in space.

Make the faces flat, and it will work.

Use 2D Sketches to guide the 3D sketches if it helps.

I cant dimension it or constrain it for some reason, no matter how i draw the sketches.

Tried to make 2D sketches for the top and bottom of the triangles as seen in the pictures below, connecting them with 3D lines, tried to sketch the whole triangle with 3D lines, but i get the same output everytime, solid being "incomplete" with faces being not active...

If i draw 2D sketches for both triangles, and try to extrude with "To" function, then the solid extrudes incorrectly because there are some angles which is the reason im trying to extrude it with 3D lines..

Maybe there is some other approach of how i could extrude this triangle between those triangular faces?

Im following a tutorial, and it looks so easy, but im struggling with it for 2 days now heheh...

What you attached at the start is different to what you are now showing us. That tutorial is not using Inventor, so I am not sure how you intend to follow it?

You can create 3d sketches and boundary patches on what you have displayed above to create solids.
