Hello.

In question #1, you say "Below is a welded frame generator assembly..." Was there supposed to be an attachment that we can look at?

Also, bear in mind that model states currently cannot access FG components, so those parts cannot be suppressed and controlled with a model state. Hopefully this changes soon, as many processes that were possible in 2021 and prior cannot be accomplished in 2022 and above.

Inventor 2022 Questions

A few questions here.

Before Inventor 2022 I used to use make 'level of details' on large models to get specifics weights of assemblies and also to perform a FEA.

Inventor 2022 has changed to 'model states', and you cannot suppress individual parts in an assembly, you can only suppress lower level assemblies. This makes it difficult to do small FEAs and get specific weights of parts in assemblies.

Work around

- If you derive a view rep into a part, i can use this file to run FEA tests.

- I can copy parts and paste in blank assembly to get weights.

Questions

1. Does anybody know of a way to the get the weight of large assemblies that are going to be split up?
My situation - large main assembly with all welded frames and fastened parts. Below is a welded frame generator assembly that is built in stages. (derive the assembly does not bring weight with it)

2. Does anybody know of a way to allow me to create my FEA analysis within my assembly, not within the derived part 'work around'?

😮

Instead of manually suppressing parts from the top assembly each time you want to do an analysis, I would create model state(s) in the assembly and each sub-assembly for weight and/or FEA analysis and have them linked associatively on up to each main assembly that uses them.

No attachment, just explaining my assembly structure.

J#-A100 (main assembly)

-> J#-A101 (welded assembly)

Why does Autodesk modify the program without reviewing with users? Removing functionality feels like this program is going backwards.

Level of Detail is designed to reduce load time in large assembly.

Not to suppress parts for other purpose.

LoD and Model State is totally for different purpose.

I have had to work with a few people that need to adjust old assemblies and the way they work now.

It is worth it because Model States are great, but it did take away the flexibility to suppress anything you want.

Based on context I'm assuming you are using the "Stress Analysis" command and not the "Frame Analysis". Go ahead and create study as normal then you can simply right click and exclude parts from your study after creation, before you run the simulation.
