Hi, this is the part - "Outter Battery Holder Plate v3". It contains two solid bodies - one is used as a snap fit cover.
In extrusion 2, I want to change one line (see image/screenshot) which is mirrored. When I delete that line and draw new line the future references are gone. The future references are projected geometry lines of the extruded edge, and it doesn't recognize that its the same edge. I understand I have to remove all unwanted constrains and not delete line in order to change its angle/length whatever, but it's very time consuming to find all those constrains and I need fast and easy way to change this.

This is 2023 Inventor.

Hi,

I have big problems with updating and referencing in inventor. The problem is I create some kind of contour and when changing dimensions of that contour line it updates correcly...most of the times. But when I have some hidden constraints (mirrored line or something) I like to delete the whole line and replace it with the similar line, because something finding constrains is tidious job - I do not add 2 lines in place of one, not that, I only delete and replace with similar (if not with same). And the future reference (which crashes) is just projected edge of extrude. And Inventor crashes/don't update (loses it's mind) because he lost his reference....why doesn't it recognize that its THAT edge like every other software (CATIA, SolidWorks). How should I reference to the initial geometry? Should I project sketch lines? Should I project edges?

Hi. It would be nice to attach an example of the part that has a problem with the sketch (or similar).

It is also desirable to indicate the version of the program and installed updates.

Hi! The update should just work if the associativity remains active. Please share the files that exhibit the behavior. I would like to understand it better.

Many thanks!

Hi! Based on your description, it seems to work the way it should. When the line segment is deleted, the downstream features depending on the line will fail. I guess you may want to project the entire face loop. For example, Sketch9 has projected edges. You could project the face loop of the planar face. And then create the offset sketch accordingly. However, the offset from the loop may still become sick.

I don't think there is a reliable way to keep associativity intact when the line is deleted and recreated (topological change) unfortunately.

Many thanks!
