Is there any way to exclude an Assembly component in BOM

Hi all,

I am new to Inventor and I am looking for a way in which I can exclude a particular Assembly component to in BOM.

In the above assembly I just want the InvPart:1 to be excluded from the BOM.

Open the part up that you want to change, go to Tools->Document Settings then go to Bill of Materials Tab

Set BOM Structure of Phantom or Reference depending on your needs in the assembly.

Hi @Shag_Bore and thanks for taking out the time to reply.

I have one problem here the referenced part is excluded from the BOM only when all the instances of a particular part are set to referenced. I want just one instance of the part of it to be excluded not both. I hope you get what I am trying to achieve.

In your assembly RMB on the part that you want to exclude and select BOM Structure -> Reference. This will only change that one instance of the part to reference. It will also exclude that part from mass calculations.

Hi! On 2022 or later, suppress the component instance will also deduct it from the BOM.

I realize this is already marked as solved, but if you are using the extra instances of the part to actually show a separate position of the SAME part, you may want to try using positional representations with modified constraints instead of setting the extra instance to reference. That way if there are modifications to the assembly later you don't have to worry that the wrong instance of the part gets deleted and you are left with a single one part set to reference being excluded altogether.
