Showing different units in drawing parts list

HI All,

It's been a while since I posted, but I have a problem which should have a simple solution.

I have a drawing parts list showing all of my parts (metal plates) in 'mm' format. All good so far!!

However, there are 2 particular plates in the parts list which need to be shown in 'in' format.

I have been through changing BASE UNITS in the parts, SUBSTITUTE FORMATS in the parts list, overwriting values, etc., etc., etc. All to no avail!!

I think it's possible. I vaguely remember seeing some frame generator models showing mixed units on drawing parts lists. I didn't look any further into that as it wasn't a requirement (read: problem) back then.

Does anyone out there have any solutions/work-arounds??

You need to create another dimension style, either purely in inches or with dual units.

The drawing units have very little to do with the modeling units

Hi Mario,
Thank you for this, but it isn't the dimensions I wish to show in different units, it's a thickness value which shows up in the parts list. For example, I would need these 2 values to be shown in 'in' rather than 'mm'.

Dont think you can do that, I would add another column with Thickness formatted in inches.

Think maybe the video posted was supposed to have another BOM with thickness in inches but it did not work

I am assuming that all of your parts are parameter driven.

If so, simply change the default units for the specific parts to IN vice MM.

I use LENGTH, WIDTH & THICK parameters for my woodworking models, and use them in my parts list as cut dimensions.

In the example below I simply changed the THICK parameter in the roof part from IN to MM, and the parts list adjusts accordingly.

Thank you for this. However, I have tried this approach and it doesn't appear to work for me.

I get this when I change as many things as I possibly can to inches.
It may be the formatting of our parts list which is causing the issue.
That's my next point of investigation

Make sure that "Use Default Formatting" is selected for the column in the Parts List.

One of our 'young' draughtsmen went through everything and eventually got it to work.
