Is there a way extruding and choosing the option "To" to tell IV that you want to also add an offset either before or after the surface you picked?

Example: I have a few multi-solid body parts that show a pipe "welded" to another pipe, (like a Tee), our standard weld practice is to have the hole size match the OD of the mating part, and the matting part would be inserted into the main part "half of the material thickness" and then welded around the outside (see image).

While performing the extrude "To" is very straightforward, in order to get the desired result I have to extrude using "distance", then perform another extrusion to get the desired result.

I don't see any way of adding an offset in the Extrusion window, but I didn't know if there was a way in parameters or iLogic to access that face and add an +/- offset value...?

@JDMather thanks for the replay, as I was building you a demo version of the issue I figured it out! I just needed to one "cutting surface" to my main tube which can be a parameter, then I will make the 4 possible options a radio box choice in the Form.

I can still share if you want?

Why not to create the 'To' surface prior the extrusion? Just as it is done in the attached sample. IV2020 format.

Cheers,

Hi Chris,

I believe you are talking about Offset Start Extrusion. It is indeed available. In Extrude panel, click on "From" and select the new starting face. It will get you the Offset Start.

Many thanks!
