Good Evening All,

Please would it be possible for anybody to tell me if it is possible to have more than one dimension style in a drawing? I created two dimension styles - one for symmetric tolerance, where the tolerance is the full size of the dimension, and a 'deviation' dimension (bi-lateral) where the tolerance text is only 50% of the dimension text size (both tolerances together make up the 100% of the dimension size). I am having trouble changing the style on dimensions. I edit style on a dimension in a drawing, but then it changes the style of all the dimensions on the drawing. Does anybody know how to get round this please?

Thank you very much,

Kind regards,

Phillip

More then one Style, Yes.

More then one "By Standard" (Default), No.

Pick the one you want to use:

So you need to create 2 Dimension Styles.

Only one can be set as default.

You can see I have lots of different Styles.

1 dec, 2 dec, 3 dec, Dual dimensions etc:

This is what happens, even though both the dimensions have apparently different text styles assigned to them. I set a new text style up for the symmetric tolerance and called this up in the new style for this dimension. I can't understand why it's doing what it's doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Thank you very much! I have proved that my dimension styles are correct. But the thing is, these dimensions are just created. I ALWAYS use driving dimensions derived from the model to place my dimensions. How would I implement this during a retrieve dimensions to drawing please? Would I have to do it a couple of times depending upon the style I wanted the dimensions to be in? The trouble I am having is changing the style once the driving dimension has been brought into the drawing. It's probably something I'm doing wrong, I know that! I really appreciate all the help, thank you.

I believe retrieve use "By Standard" in drawing.

Try change the Style before retrieve.

ie start dimension command, change the style, add any dimension.

Or set the Style in Object Default so it become "By Standard".

It does actually work! By using the drop down menu for style after driving dimensions are placed, I can now correctly change between symmetric and deviation toleranced dimensions. I have another question though please, if anybody could answer it. The 1.00 dimension with the leader line pointing to the chamfer is actually a note with the dimension parameter from the 1.00±0.20 chamfer dimension. Why doesn't the tolerance from the dimension show up in my note? Is there an additional parameter that should be included in the note?

Thank you very much,

Kind regards,

Phillip

I'm not sure how I'd get this text into my note though. I wouldn't just be able to type the text, as it wouldn't know which parameters to look for. I've had a look through th drop down menus when I place my note, and can't see anywhere anything related to tolerances. I'm really sorry to trouble you. I spent 20 years working with Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) and just used to type "&" before any text in order to retrieve its parameter. Creo seemed to have a lot more functionality in general, does anybody agree / disagree with this?

Like just say I don't really need tolerance on chamfers 😋

Once I did all the +/- in sketch on a air/oil amplifying cylinder.

So I can see and check tolerance on model.

Able to transfer them to drawing is a bonus.

Other time I just tolerance them in drawing.

First time I open Pro/E it was just blue screen. Failing to get any command, I closed it after a few minutes.

It was the last time 🤣

Hello,

The dimension in the model does have a tolerance set to it. The tolerance shows if I retrieve the dimension into the drawing, but if I create a note and use the dimension parameter in the note, the tolerance no longer shows up. I somehow need to get the parameter for the tolerance from the 'Notes and Leaders' into my drawing text, but not sure how to do this?

Thank you very much,

Kind regards,

Phillip
