Hi,

I need to provide a client with a STEP file in OSHA Safety Yellow (RGB: 230,175,0), but I’ve run into an issue. When I open the STEP file in Autodesk applications (Inventor, 3ds Max, Autodesk Viewer), the color appears as intended. However, when opened in other programs, the shade of yellow changes.

I applied the appearance at the part level, but it seems that the color is not consistently preserved across different software. I´ve attached a sample file with the same problem.

Is there a way to ensure the color remains accurate when viewed in other applications?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
José

Which program are you trying to open it in? I would guess that it is these programs at fault. If your colour appears as expected in all those other programs, then the colour data is in the STEP file, it's just being interpreted differently by other systems.

I just checked and 3ds Max also imports the wrong colour (RGB: 255,213,0).

I´ve also tried this other one: https://3dviewer.net/

Hi! Please try it on viewer.autodesk.com. How does the color compare to the 3rd-party tool?

Many thanks!

Hi! Then I would assume the issue is on the 3rd-party side. Autodesk Viewer presents the standardized translation behaviors across most Autodesk products.

Many thanks!
