topic Migrating from a custom LOD to model states, causing slow suppression in Inventor Forum

I am working on a model which we use for production, engineers make a copy of our library model to bring products to manufacture. The model has about 600 parts, uses iLogic and parts are derived from a skeletal model. There are about 70 drawings as part of the model with various parts lists showing different assemblies.

When migrating from 2021 to 2023, we find when changing to the primary model state all of our suppressed parts behave very slowly when carrying out any suppress/unsuppress functions. The time to carry out a simple suppress becomes worse the more parts that are suppressed too, so with a model without any parts suppressed it's fine, but steadily gets worse with the more parts we suppress. A very basic part without any constraints may take up to 30 seconds to suppress or unsuppress.

If we remain on our custom LOD - which is migrated to a custom model state, the suppression is as normal. However in this state, suppression does not change our BoMs which means all of our drawings and BoMs are incorrect. We cant seem to change the parts lists either, they appear locked to the primary model state.

Can anyone recommend a way forward for this? It feels like we cannot use primary model states due to slow suppression performance, and we cannot use a custom model state without re-doing all of our parts lists.

Would anyone have a recommended way forward that has experienced these issues?

Hi Glenn,

The behavior does not sound right to me. If these derived parts are substitute parts, they should be migrated with their substitute link suppressed. If possible, please share the files in zip with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the poor performance issue better.

Many thanks!

Hello, was the issue here discovered/resolved? We just switched from 2021 to 2024 and are experiencing the same behavior with our migrated assemblies.

Hi! Please install 2024.1.1 update. Also, make sure Tools -> App Options -> Assembly -> uncheck "Enable Express mode."

If possible, please share the files in zip with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com.
